Sandra Turner Memorial Scholarships Now Available
$2000 Scholarships limited to three individuals
The Arkansas Spinal Cord Foundation (ASCF) announces its 2014 Sandra Turner Memorial Scholarships “CALL FOR APPLICATIONS.”
Annually, ASCF awards a scholarship selected from qualifying applicants to an individual with a spinal cord disability who is pursuing a college degree (Bachelors or Masters), or those enrolling in a vocational/technical training accredited programs.
We are very pleased to award three (3) $2,000 scholarships this year to enable those seeking to further their education in 2014. It is an important part of the foundation’s mission to help individuals with spinal cord disabilities pursue their education, we hope to growth this opportunity for students each year.
ASCF began its scholarship program in the memory of Sandra Turner. Ms. Turner, who sustained a spinal cord injury in 1994, served as Chairman of the Foundation until her untimely death in 2009. In her honor the Foundation implemented fundraising activities to provide funding for annual scholarships to those who need assistance with educational expense in achieving their goals.
All Scholarship Application Must Be Received by June 30, 2014:
Scholarships will be awarded in August 2014, just in time for the start of the fall semester. We encourage any individual with a spinal cord disability who is either enrolling in college or vocational/technical school for the first time, or as a current student, to take this opportunity to apply for assistance. Scholarship application and instructions for completion may be downloaded from the Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission website: www.spinalcord.ar.gov.

Eligibility requirements include:
• Must be an Arkansas resident
• Must have a medically documented spinal cord disability (including but not limited to spinal cord injury, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis)
• Has been accepted to a college, university or vocational/technical training program for the 2014 fall semester. This will include undergraduate or master’s level programs.
• Must complete and submit an ASCF Sandra Turner Memorial scholarship application and required documents by June 30, 2014.
All applicants will be notified as to whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship by August 1, 2014.
